With or Without the Clown Nose
Some people’s energy just calls to you from afar.

So there he was, sitting on a bench with his guitar, as if it was made for him to take it all in. I wanted to be able to reflect on this energy one day, so I asked if I could capture it. A warm inviting smile said “with or without the clown nose?”, and I played along and said “with”. To my surprise, he actually pulled out a clown nose. I could feel my cheeks hit the sides of my camera from smiling so hard while looking through the viewfinder.

One thing I appreciate about my family is that we love a good life story and we aren’t afraid to ask for it. We don’t know how to be strangers, and can surely find some common ground somewhere. The ole “Where ya from?” led to some shared perspectives and stories of his travels to Alaska, Hawaii, and other destinations. He now lives in New York. I immediately thought of my sweet sister who lives in New York, actually, in a neighborhood not too far. Her name is Sarenity, a name so beautiful and in that moment that’s all I felt. Bright souls, warm sunshine on my skin, a cool breeze. I was in a calm and peaceful state. I love you my sweet sister.

Miggy then was more than eager to show us the art he creates. He then runs back over to his stuff and holds up each piece for me to capture. The longer I looked, the trippier the pieces got, faces and animals started to appear. Perspective. I was photobombed by a hilarious lady who was all smiles and a handsome local, which added so much character. He creates his art based on the full moon, creating one piece a month. MIggy had such inviting energy and the most contagious smile.

I’m glad I walked up to a “stranger” in the Plaza of Rincon, Puerto Rico .
